DOGAL strings

Recommended Posts

: Anyone has any experience using italian-made DOGAL
: strings (for violin) and how they compare in terms of
: quality/tone/depth/etc with others like the Thomastik,
: Pirastro, Corelli, etc ?

: Any information appreciated...

: Thanks !

I've tried the dogal strings on my violin and found them to be pretty good. I still use the "E" dogal. It is a heavy gauge (30) string with a full sound. The A, D, G, are also very full, but a bit dark sounding. They are a heavy tension strings also. I found that they lost thier ring after about three weeks of playing. The winding on the tailpeice end unravels quite easily too. I prefer the A, D, G, Piratro Synoxas with the Dogal E. Good luck

I find these strings to be very good for my violin. I use the perlon g, d & a with the forte e string (special). This e-string has a real "singing" quality, absolutely incredible. I was told that this string has a higher carbon content than normal steel for strings.

Where can you buy the DOGAL strings in this country?

They're not listed in the usual catalogs. How do

they compare, pricewise?
