"HOPF" violin

it's a very common name branded into thousands of shop instruments made from the 1850s into early this century. Various apprentices assembled the instruments in Europe and they would be branded Hopf, shipped to america, and sold. As for the original master "Hopf" I don't have much info. Anyone? Check the ebay auction site and the elderly used instruments site and you'll see several for sale. Most of the ones I've seen/played have been pretty decent fiddle's.
