tangmu
I bought a violin. It came with an appraisal, and I was told it had been set up by the same violin shop that appraised it two years ago. The problem is, the bridge seems to be at the right place, but the sound post is in front of the bridge. I asked the seller how come, he said the violin was his daughter's and he had no idea. Any explanations? Thanks! Tangmu
steveg
Measure the string length from the nut to the bridge. It should be 13 3/4 to 13 7/8 inches. The sound post must be 1/8, to 1/4 inch BEHIND the foot of the bridge, other wise, some one is pulling your chain BIG TIME. steve

tangmu
Thanks everyone for the information! The violin in question is full size. The bridge is now a little less than 13inches from the nut. tangmu
