Janabanana
Have any of you cellists seen a stand like this one before? I would like one without major expense (as I don't play often enough), but I'm wondering about the curves on the base -- it seems like they might rub in the wrong places. Thanks. http://cgi.ebay.com/New-2006-Cello-Stand...1QQcmdZViewItem Jana
Woodland
Looks to me as if it's designed to hold an electric bass as well, judging by those two dips in the lower brackets. Ingles makes a decent cello/double bass stand that I've had good luck with. It would be a better choice because it has an arm at the top that locks the neck into place (plus a bow holder) to keep it much more sturdy. http://www.finecases.com/browse/ingles/ingles-1718.html
Brad Dorsey
I use one of these: http://www.internationalviolin.com/itemd...t&item=7300 It's similar, but without the curves in the brackets. In light of Regis's comment below, I should add that I would not leave a cello in one of these if children and/or dogs were running around. Regis
My wife uses one of the Ingles that Woodland mentioned. It is nice and secure so you don't have to worry about any bumps/tips etc. We don't have children running around anymore but, we still want to keep the cello safe. Janabanana
Thanks everybody. I really don't want to spend a lot, because, as I said, I don't play that much, but I have a continuo part to learn (Telemann) to play on Temple Square in Salt Lake City in March (w/bassoon solo), so I'm getting tired of packing and unpacking all the time! It's just hard to guess w/o actually trying to put the cello on. Jana
