miles Posted August 1, 2005 Report Posted August 1, 2005 Did Straduarius make any 3/4? I hope he did. Code: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...me=STRK:MEWN:IT
Woodland Posted August 1, 2005 Report Posted August 1, 2005 I saw a photo of one years back that was either a 3/4 or a 1/2 size. It had a unique scroll that terminated in a flat "shield" design.
T_Rocca Posted August 2, 2005 Report Posted August 2, 2005 but def. not this one. this is a not so good factory trade violin
miles Posted August 2, 2005 Author Report Posted August 2, 2005 What are the give-aways (to be a bad trade violin) on this one?
GlennYorkPA Posted August 2, 2005 Report Posted August 2, 2005 Miles, I don't understand what you are asking. Did you think this violin might actually have been made by Stradivari? If you did, you are basing that on the label but the label is nothing like Strad's labels. He never printed all four digits of the date but no point in pursuing this if it is a joke question.
miles Posted August 2, 2005 Author Report Posted August 2, 2005 >Did you think this violin might actually have been made by Stradivari? I don't think so since the label has something else on it. I was wondering whether these well established-violin makers also made 3/4 (or 7/8) becaue that's the size I need. If they did make smaller violins, I will have a chance of owning one and also enjoy playing it. The question was my deep wish. :-)
T_Rocca Posted August 2, 2005 Report Posted August 2, 2005 Quote: What are the give-aways (to be a bad trade violin) on this one? well to me it is quite obvious that it has poor craftmanship, bad varnish, bad antiqing, bad corners, bad wood. everything you will find on a factory violin. You want a 3/4 or 7/8 violin from a famous maker? I know some makers does make it. But if you are really interested in getting a small one from a famous maker. Get a Del Gesu, there is one I remember which has a body length of 349mm , close enough. I can understand you want a 3/4 but why a 3/4?
miles Posted September 3, 2005 Author Report Posted September 3, 2005 I am cleaning up my old posts and saw this one. Sorry I missed it then. +++++++++++++++ I can understand you want a 3/4 but why a 3/4? +++++++++++++++ Because I am a small adult. My violin teacher selected a 3/4 violin with 1/2 bow for me years ago. So I thought I needed to use a 3/4 violin. I wonder whether I can use a larger bow even if I cannot reach the tip when I bow???
