johnsr
The J.R. Carlisle fiddle that my parents bought me over 60 years ago is contained in a case made by M&W Co and a gold colored sticker on the inside of the case says..."made for Oliver Ditson & Co" (New York ...Boston). Any one here familiar with these companies???
Brad Dorsey
James Reynolds Carlisle was a well-known Ohio violin maker. Oliver Ditson started as a Boston music publisher in the 1830s, then opened music stores in several other cities selling sheet music and instruments made by various makers.
