Barry J. Griffiths
I guess this could go on the eBay fraud thread, but it's more like a "Bargain hunter buyer" theme. Lupot Bow Hard to tell but my guess would also be Brazilwood, nickel mounted of course.
jackc
...and made of mahogany, according to the description. Certainly worth every bit of $400. Where is Pugwash, NS, anyway?
Engprof
Pugwash is on the North coast of the 'neck' part of Nova Scotia. It is a very small place with miles of red sand beaches. I was through there on my way to Cape Breton last summer. Hannah

Regis
To mount on the wall with their mahogany violin, I guess
Fellow
It looks like an Okay bow, not great ,but okay. Mahogany has nothing to do with it. /yuen/
priya
Some Lupot bows aren't too bad, I picked up a commercial Mirecourt Lupot a little while ago. Silver mounted, nice.
Steve R.
I'd be curious about it's weight, aren't curved frogs usually on viola bows? edit: Oh and an afterthought, the color is the same as my student Schroetter bow.
priya
I'm not sure as to it's weight, but the frog is abit curious, the MOP slide extents to the back of the frog as well
Jeffrey Holmes
Quote: Some Lupot bows aren't too bad, I picked up a commercial Mirecourt Lupot a little while ago. Silver mounted, nice. Priya; Lupot is just the letters on a stamp, in this case. Stamps like this are just placed on the bow to increase appeal... The actual "Lupot" made some very fine bows in the 19th century... expensive these days. I agree with the statement above.... it looks like a brazilwood bow with nickel mounts.
