Oscar
I'm stripping the black paint off an old wooden "GSB" violin case and it only occurred to me about halfway through that I didn't check to find out if the paint was lead-based. I haven't been able to find out much about these cases on the net (other than a lot are being sold on eBay). Does anyone have a link that might help? nashville violins
I would think that the stripper would be much more harmful than the lead (if there is any). You don't plan to stick it in your mouth, do you? I've heard that a fresh coat of paint over old lead paint is enough to protect your kids and pets as long as nobody chews on it too much or you have flaking. Oscar
I'm not using paint stripper; just spirits and steel wool. I'm going to clear varnish it. Wanted a wooden case that looks like a wooden case :-)
