Planing the ribs

Recommended Posts

I use a Stanley 102 plane and keep it extremely sharp and extremely finely set. Gentle taps on the back of the blade with a wooden mallet to just get the blade engaging. I check for high spots on a marble slab. I use my marble slab for just about everything. Italian marble of course, $5 at a flea market. Polished on one side and slightly rough on the other. I use the rough side for mulling pigments.
