Ben
hey, I think metal is just the next natural evolutionary step in what we call classical music. Look at how both are structured, especially the longer stuff that you find in death metal. There's nothing more beautiful than good death metal... it's so slow and introspective and melodic. Then there's Nightwish... they're like a sonic orgasm. EVERYONE should give them a try. Ben

nicolo
Vivaldi. But there is a recording of Beethoven's violin concerto I'd like to be listening to now. I heard about the last half of it on a classical music radio station recently. It was a recording of a live performance and was a flawless, expressive interpretation. The feature of particular interest was the sound of the soloist's violin, which was strong and brilliant, as you would expect, but incredibly rich and beautiful. The radio station went right to the news when the recording ended without identifying anything about it. I'd really like to hear that violin again. If the station keeps a log, you might be able to call them and find out what it was -- my local classical station doesn't keep a log, but if I talk to the person who was "tending the store" at the time of the broadcast, they usually can provide the information.
