Tuning question.

Recommended Posts

How many people fine tune their own instruments? I have my piano tuned regularly, but with the changing humidity up here in MN, the new set lasts but a few days. I have a piano humidifier setup and that helps some but.....!

I have the tools. a good ear, so, here goes! Any comments?

It's actually a lot more tricky than first meets the eye especially with the tempered scale and the fact that as one goes higher there are three strings per note and the strings get shorter. In addition, it's usually just a very slight turn of the hammer that is required to tune and the hammer has to be held a certain way to accomodate that slight increase. One also has to be extremely careful with anything involving the pin block. If you can handle all that then give it a shot.
