Pete
Hey group, I'm pretty new here so forgive me for asking, but what's up with so many bi lingual people in this group? I'm not very computer savvy either, so I'm not sure if it's some kind of code that's being translated or what? Pete
MarvyMei
Pete-- sorry about the French incident. I'm essentially monolingual, after many attempts to remedy my problem. Yeah we're using a translation program.
Stephen Fine
Being able to converse in more than one language is very useful. But know this... whenever I'm speaking in French, it's not good French grammar, and it's not important. Anything serious that I will have to say I will say in English. Adieu! Pete
Oh, I thought I saw several others speaking French also. I didn't know what was going on. A translating program that several of you share? That's too cool. I wonder if you can get a program for Klingon? Pete

Violina
Well, my mother tongue is Finnish and I do speak English and Swedish pretty well also, as well as know some German and French, too, and have studied several other languages, but with less success;-). But I am still monolingual.
AnneS
I know a very few words in spanish, because my daughters got a children's CD rom for Christmas But other than that, I am sometimes lucky to handle the English language well!
MANFIO
Well, I`m more a violin maker than a violist. I speak portuguese (my mother language), italian, english and a bit of spanish and french.

acacio
I'm a native speaker of portuguese, but after a while living in the US I found out that instead of learning english I'm unlearning portuguese. So I guess I don't speak anything anymore. Am I an alingual? Oh, yes, I do scratch some french and italian, and understand (but don't speak) spanish. Acacio. staylor
Excuse my French accent! I was born in London, and now live in Israel, so I speak hebrew too. English 95% good Hebrew 75% Other languages, up to 20% If anyone plays classical and jazz, I would consider that absolutely bi-lingual. violin and piano(classical)-not so bad.
