Chopin's Fantasia Impromptu?

Recommended Posts

I'm not sure exactly whether there was a story behind it. I believe the term impromptu was used in certain Romantic era compositions in a descriptive "improvised type" manner. In those days (and well before) it was not unusual for improvisation to take place and pieces were actually played slightly different each time they were played.

The Fantasie Impromptu isn't too difficult but one has to be careful to maintain a steady rhythm and the 8 against 6 takes some getting used to.
