deStaunton
I have a viola by Johann Koeberling that is very nice. Great wood, crafting, and lovely varnishing job; strong, clear sound. He may be related to this guy, I'm not sure yet.The address you give doesn't seem to get me there, via google
linuxviolin
Yes, I own the copy of "Il Canone." Those copies really are accurate- there aren't too many differences between mine and the real thing. The violin is really loud, and has a very refined sound. Excellent workmanship. I could go on forever about this violin, but I won't. My mother has another of his violins, but not a copy. Its sound is not quite so huge, but that may be a side effect of her not practicing enough so the violin isn't fully broken in. It has a very rich, dark sound, almost like a viola. bubba
I have a Michael Koeberling violin. He made it for a VSA competition and I was fortunate enough to be able to buy it. The workmanship is outstanding. The owner of the violin shop we used at the time I purchased the violin was extremely impressed with the workmanship and couldn't believe what I paid for it. He felt that the wood used was exceptional. My violin has a huge sound and the tone is very even and rich. Right after I bought it I met with a number of area teachers and several tried out my instrument. One of these teachers had been looking for a violin for a student in the $15-$20K range and said that she had not found anything nearly as nice. I enjoyed very much dealing with Mr. Koeberling. He has kept in touch and checks with me every so often to see how I am enjoying my instrument. I can wholeheartedly recommend his instruments! Before I purchased my violin, he sent me another violin which a friend who is a professional ended up buying -- instantly. Every time I see him, he raves about the violin -- he has even played it in the White House!
Concerto
Yes, I own the copy of "Il Canone." linuxviolin
It cost $8000 when I bought it, but his rates have gone up. For his more expensive instruments (mine fits in that range) he now charges between $12-15k

Did anybody know or play his instruments? Any comments about his work? Alex I have played on one for about two months now and today purchased two, strad models that were part of a string quartet. Gave one to the daughter, they sound incredible and are beautiful as well.
