dick l graham
not sure how the foot powered devise being used by the right hand man works. it appears to be a rotating shaft perhaps with a flying cutter as preliminary inside power gouging. Anybody know? it looks very interesting.
Craig Tucker
Note the Chanot model violin hanging above the second workers head... Cool photo.
Craig Tucker
oops, looking closer, it does have corners after all.... I think.
Guy_Gallo
Looks like a Chanot to me, as does the mold to the right of it...
Norman Clark
Right next to the bicycle wheel. Did they really wear a coat, tie and vest to run a lathe in a manufacturing plant?
administrator
Anyone notice the violin over the chaps head? The guy on the left that is, the one carving the pegbox.
Japes
What task is this guy performing on the lathe? I can't work it out. I don't think that's a Chanot model. The arching appears too substantial.
dhood
It looks like a drill in the lathe but I can't imagine what he is doing.
Craig Tucker
It looks like the shaft in the lathe ends with some sort of fine cutter OVER the edge in the upper bout. He may simply be finishing the edgework or channel with that days equivalent of a Dremel tool.
