  1. I don't know if I can get this survey to work properly, but what the hey! Another case thread mentioned that we might only be repeating the manufacturer's ad copy when we give recommendations. So! Let's give our personal experiences instead! I was limited to three questions, so in the comments please add any other relevant information, such as your climate and how you use your case. Does it ever leave the house? Travel with it daily on public transport? Occasional car travel only? Pros and cons? Choose only one of your cases for the survey. Add additional case comments below. Let's see what we come up with!
  2. https://www.bromptons.co/auction/27th-march-2017/lots/298-a-rare-italian-violin-case-circa-1700.html Saw this and Thought of GlennYorkPA. Not so many of these about, and not that highly priced all things considered.
  3. Hi I have purchased an old violin and it came with an old case which is reasonable condition however I read that one is better off throwing out the case and buying a new one. I thought for the providence etc of the whole thing it may be better to keep the case as if I sell the violin someone else may want it but who knows. Should I buy a new one to keep it in and out of harms way thanks
  4. Hi all on this forum, I am wondering if anyone give me some ideas about a wooden case that housed an 1890 Stainer copy violin I bought in France (in 2004). The violin is now not in my possession (long story), but the case is a really pretty wood, in good condition; I would like to find a place to sell it to someone who may have an interest in these things. On a complete guess, it may be European made, sometime around 1930- 1940-ish? maybe later. It should be looked at and appreciated even if it is not of any substantial value. I have uploaded a series of pictures here: https://plus.google.com/u/0/photos/111670051828402898863/albums/6071631394116137873?sort=4 Thanks, -Lori
  5. Hello, I recently acquired a violin with a somewhat unusual case. The case is solid wood, with metal (?) latches. The ball feet are made of wood, too. The inside is quite nice, given the age. It is lined with a green fabric (velvet?). Before creating an account, I would sometimes lurk in here. I wanted, especially, the input of GlennYorkPA. I've read some of his posts regarding violin cases. (I haven't read his book, yet. Sorry! ) I would be glad to hear information from anyone! I have taken many pictures. So, I created a photo album under my SkyDrive. Here is the link: http://sdrv.ms/119w8E4 Furthermore, I have pictures of the violin and the bow. I'd be happy to hear any information (history, maker, repair estimates, etc.) about those, as well. Thank you for your help! - Totti
  6. Seeking carbon fiber double violin case. Will consider other material but must not exceed 5.5 pounds or 2.4 kilograms. Hima or Howard Core type. Gewa "Idea" and BAM high-tech would be fine, but need it at a much lower price. New preferred. Slightly used considered. Also have extra cases of my own for trade or partial trade. violinist@rkviolin.com
