Has anyone had the opportunity to A / B test the Codabow Marquise vs. the JonPaul Carrera? I currently play on a Codabow GX, and am thinking I'd like to upgrade to a warmer sounding carbon fiber bow (if it exists), but one that handles similar to the GX. I'm seeking comments on anyone's personal experience with either of those two bows. Thanks.

OK, so Southwest Strings had a 15% off sale and for the first time ever it applied to Codabow products. I decided to get a Diamond GX with the white "Alabaster" frog. Complete impulse buy to be sure. Just a bit over 700 bucks with free shipping. The thing is really good! I have paid a great deal more and gotten a great deal less. It bounces really well and the articulation is great. The sautille is really clean. I kind of have a routine for trying bows. It is at the very least very good for the price and a great second bow or playing outside bow. I feel a bit like I have gone of the reservation a bit but I thought you guys would like a report. The slide is even carbon so there is nothing to alarm any customs inspectors. The screw mechanism is very smooth and the finish is pretty good over all. The fit of the frog to the stick could be improved but it's ok. On my electronic scale it weighed in at 70.0 grams on the money. DLB DLB

Hi everyone, i want to ask you something about an issues that really bugs me in days. i've just bought a codabow prodigy 3 days ago in a local violin shop, when i came home, after a quick practice, everything seemed fine except some over-bouncing issues (this could be on me because of my experience) However when i tried to loosen the hair, i didn't loosen enough even i came to the end it was still tight, even i removed the screw and the frog still sit on its place. First i thought that this could be normal for carbonbows but then i checked with my friend's diamond sx, his bow is fine just like any other bow. so there is clearly something wrong in mine. I guess the frog mechanism seems fine but hair is too short. i really don't want to return it to the shop, this was the last prodigy they have. so, my question is, do i need to rehair it immediately to protect the bow, or is it possible that the hair loosens in time without damaging the bow? Also if you can give me any advice in that i will be so appreciated. Thank you very much for your interest.
