  1. Looking for some guidance here, label says Paul Bailly but it looks German.. Sorry the photos are not more clear! Taken from a listing. Thanks in advance.
  2. Hi I have this cello I bought in 2013 for $150NZD. I think the strings are a bit too high, 8mm on the A string and 10mm on the C string, and I was thinking of getting the bridge made a bit lower, also because the bridge doesn't seem to fit the cello properly. but then I noticed the back is starting to come off and will need fixing. Does anyone know what kind of cello it is and if it would worth fixing? I know it's a cheap one, the fingerboard isn't ebony but the purfling is real. Thanks!
  3. I have a 2008 Alois Sandner Model #8225 cello that I bought a few years ago at Ifshin. I'm trying to ID it so that I can resell it. I would appreciate any help with this! Thank you so much! (Yes, one of the strings has broken so I'd need to get it restrung)
  4. Hello All, Sorry for the poor photos, I meant to get some decent ones and the day got away from me. Any thoughts on this cello shaped object on my bench? Measurements are: Body 71 cm., overall length 119, upper bout 32, lower bout 38, rib height 12.5. No label, 2 repair labels, 1891 and 1970. Many repairs. The belly and back only overhang the ribs by 1 to 1.5 mm. in most places.
  5. Hello all. I’ve had this cello since buying (new I think) from a music store in Cambridge (UK) in 1999. I’ve been thinking about selling it recently, but I have no idea what it is. There is no serial number (I even used a fibre optic scope to look inside). Only a sticker saying “Made in Germany”. Pretty sure it’s 4/4 (30” back, 48” total length). Likely a student cello. Pictures here via Imgur: https://imgur.com/gallery/MUFnTGx Many thanks to anyone who can help! Cheers, Matt. (I’ve since read the post about what photos to take for ID purposes. I will add those photos soon)

    Cello ID

Hi, any thoughts on this cello? It doesn't seem like much to me, most likely just another German Trade cello, but I got it for a great price. And it sounds lovely. Much better than what I could buy in store for more than 10x the price. Any info on the cello/age would be much appreciated. No labels or writing inside that I can see. Someone got a little crazy with white glue unfortunately. Any suggestions on how to remove/soften it? Thank you, as always.
