Between contemplating the flies buzzing in my bathroom window and the -10 C temperature outside keeping the snowdrifts content ...and Vda's swallowtails merrily flitting about the azaleas in her garden ...I was wondering who the ideal or perfect buyer of a benchmade instrument is? Seasoned performers? Promising children? Adult aficionados? Collectors? What about those that purchase a restored instrument? Something you've put hours into? Given our currently 'disposable' society, does that attitude spill over to violins too? What about buyer's attitudes? Are they generally good? Are attitudes different to what they were 20 years ago? I tend to be a little old-school in some of my approaches so sometimes the attitudes of other people surprise me (with both 'bad' and 'good' attitudes).
