  1. Here is a cello I am slowly working on... a few questions: the corner blocks are rounded off prior to meeting the corners, is this indicative of a quick workshop job with an outside mold? And, I can see there is a label underneath, but why cover with a standard ER Roth label?
  2. I recently bought a 1930 G.A. Ficker violin, Strad model 147A. It has a really good sound, very pleased with it. While I can find model info on E.H. Roth’s Violins (Ficker is Roth’s cousin with whom he opened their 1902 shop) I can’t find any information about the Ficker model #’s / grades. Any info would be appreciated.
  3. After rabbit-tracking onto older Maestronet threads about authenticating Roths, Ebay spam below appeared in our Inbox (obviously we're being tracked!). We are NOT interested, just curious if this would be one of signed-label G.del Gesus by Roth. Google search popped up two newspaper entries from 1928 about Mr. Yehle, violinist in Missouri, commissioning Roth to make instrument; and census data, names and dates, line up with current Kansas sellers. Again, not pursuing, only curious. http://m.ebay.com/itm/311379626941?ul_ref=http%3A%2F%2Frover.ebay.com%2Frover%2F4%2F0%2F8%3Feecl%3D1%26eesi%3DUS%26i%3D1a9c310c3bfIId4c17II13e453II1a9c30f4573II1%26eepc%3D%2F311379626941%26bu%3D43167978961%26segname%3DB0FE698-00%26crd%3D20150617140058%26emParams%3Di%26sojTags%3Demid%253Dbu%252Csegname%253Dsegname%252Ccrd%253Dcrd%26srcrot%3D0%26rvr_id%3D0&_mwBanner=1

  5. Hello, I've been searching the Roth threads on this site and others and haven't found an answer to my question yet. I have a violin with a label that reads "Ernst Heinrich Roth Markneukirchen anno 1925 Copie Antonio Stradivarius" and has a stamp in the middle of the back that reads "Ernst Heinrich Roth Markneukirchen" in an oval pattern. The previous owner's deceased father bought it in the UK sometime in the 1920s (I assume no earlier than 1925). However, there is no serial number and there are no other markings. I am trying to find out whether this is an authentic Roth, and also what model it may be. Does anyone have information on this particular type of Roth label?
