No conversation about VSA? Did anyone besides David attend? I didn't examine the comments carefully... What was your favorite lecture? Why?

I just received the recent edition of the "Scroll", the magazine produced by the Violin Society of America. I am very impressed! A wonderful article about being a woman coming up in the trade by Marilyn Wallin. A valuable discussion which needs to be front and center. A continued illustration of a neck reset by Mathew Noykos. Excellent instruction accompanied by step by step photographs. The chronicles of Harry Marison..scientist and cello maker....as he brought us scans of the Christiani Cello of Antonio Stradivari. And...much more. Congratulations to the VSA and the people [volunteers] who make this publication possible. Get some binders folks, this publication will become a well referenced addition to your library. on we go, Joe

Hi: Would it be useful for an amateur musician to attend the 2015 VSA Conference in Baltimore? I have no interest in or talent for making instruments and am not in the market for an instrument at the moment. I just love learning more about what goes into making instruments and how/why they work. Also, are there parts of the Conference that would be more interesting for a non-maker? Would it be best to attend all three days? Thanks for any insights you might have.

Hi All, I thought someone on the list might be able to help me on this. I registered for the VSA COnvention on the Website last night, paid $225 for the registration fee and Banquet ticket, and then went to the Competition Registration form where they want to charge me $55 for Convention registration aside from the Competition fee of $130. From that experience I gather I should have registered for the Competition first and that would have taken care of the reduced Conference fee. Is this correct? How do I fix this since I have overpaid and not completed the Competition registration process. I submitted the Competition Registration form but stopped at the payment page. I replied to the confirmation email I got from the VSA explaining the situation but so far no response. I know this is last minute but I only just found out I could attend (at least for part of the week - since I am also visiting a work customer in Indianapolis the same week) and although hesitant about submitting an instrument, decided to go for it. Anyone have the inside track here with the VSA or the Conference and can help me get this straightened out??? Thanks... (My inexperience shows through once again! ) Joe
