Bridge City Tool Works has their low angle mini block plane on sale for 40% off, https://bridgecitytools.com/collections/planes/products/hp-8-mini-block-plane and their dual angle block plane also on sale. They have depth skids too. I just rceived my mini plane today, it looks really sweet. https://bridgecitytools.com/collections/planes I haven't heard that brand mentioned here before, but it seems very precisely made, and so far. measures very flat. I was informed of this sale by the last SIMSCal meeting, https://www.simscal.com/ . What are your thoughts on their planes?

I just received my Koss ESP-950 headphones from drop. These are some of the most affordable, comfortable electrostatic headphones now made. Electrostatics yield - imho - a much finer treble response than diaphragm based phones. The midrange is to die for, though doesn't quite compare to my STAX 009s, at ~ $4500. list. At this price, $400., (list is $1000.) it is an insane deal. https://drop.com/buy/massdrop-x-koss-esp-95x-electrostatic-system Note that the pads have been redone by massdrop (foam and velour, making comfort even higher), and there is no battery pack, just an "energizer" with a wall wart (and no leather carrying bag) In Europe, it is or was even cheaper (~$250. US), but I can't properly access the UK site, because it is blocked from the US. It was about $250., as drop, formerly massdrop, tries out a new shipping system. At that price, they will or did sell out. Why is it most professional musicians have horrible audio equipment?

Hi guys, I am about to embark on my 2nd violin build after a relatively successful first build (see ). I really enjoyed my first and plan to work hard on making my second instrument one that I am proud enough to stamp with my name and put it up for sale. If you have sold an instrument, where did you sell your first? A violin trader or classifieds ad? Music shop? Realistically I am not looking to make a profit, but if I can sell it for enough to cover costs, I can continue to make them as I have time and keep this hobby going. This way I can keep improving my craft. I figure for myself as a player, I'd much rather take a well built hand-crafted instrument than a chinese CNC'd template that someone varnished for similar money. Surely there are some players out there with the same mindset? Appreciate any wisdom, you've all been doing this for a lot longer than I!

Hi all, I recently found out that one of my violin bows is very old, French, and rather valuable. It's labelled "E. SARTORY A PARIS" but I'm assured, by the people who are currently looking for buyers for me, that it's a decent quality copy, and not an authentic Sartory. It has also been fully restored prior to sale. The best offer they've had so far is £3500; they also said that if I were to try to sell it at auction I'd be likely to get half that at best. So I'm fairly happy with that, given that, in my few hours of research I found that most authentic Sartory's sell for something like £10,000-£15,000; so £3500 for a copy seems pretty fair. That said, I also convinced myself that mine's an original and so should be worth much more, though, as I'm sure is clear, I have no experience here ;-) Anyway, given my lack of experience, I felt it would be useful to gather some more opinions, should anyone want to offer them. Any advice would be very much appreciated! I'm also curious as to what might distinguish this bow as a copy from an original. Pictures below. Cheers and thanks in advance, Manny
