Has anyone else come across this? https://publishing.aip.org/publications/latest-content/capturing-and-analyzing-subtle-combination-tones-produced-by-violins/ If the existence of combination tones has been proven, that sounds significant. I do however, think it would be of interest if, for the sake of comparison, a further acoustic experiment would include some old violins that don’t sound very good and some new ones that are considered to be at the current highest level of craftsmanship and/or tone.

Hello - I am researching three violinists - Amely Heller - ca. 1905 Helen Jourdan-Morhange - b. 1888 d. 1961 Anne Briggs - ca. 1895 (her sister, Esther Briggs played piano) I have exhausted my resources to find any dates of performance or bibliographic material - Jourdan-Morhange was a friend & colleague of Ravel. Does anyone know about digital files of back issues of The Strad magazine, other periodicals such as Violins and Violinists and The Violin Times. Cheers - Andrew

“Imitation, Genetic Lineages, and Time Influenced the Morphological Evolution of the Violin” It doesn’t look like there is anything new and earth shattering here, but still a fun and interesting read.
