Hi all, I want to change my violin's end pin and I have already ordered the parts. I understand that it needs to be shaved to fit. Is the taper the same with the tuning pegs? Can I use a peg shaver ? I also ordered the peg shaver and awl for future use... thank you

It was early production, plain aluminum without the black anodizing, but otherwise identical to the current ones. It never worked worth &?!@#^. The problem was that the cutter would make a small tearout on the peg shaft. Then that torn spot would rotate to the point where a sharp corner on the base of the unit would drop into it, causing the cutter to take another, bigger bite out of the peg shaft, etc., etc. The result was a peg shaft torn to shreds. But they're still made, and presumably sold, so they must be working for someone. (?) Do they work for you? Was I misusing it somehow?
