  1. Hi, everyone! I am looking for some help identifying which member of the Nürnberger family made my cello bow. I have reason to believe it was made by Franz Albert Nürnberger II based on my research, but I am by no means an expert, nor am I anywhere close to being one. I have attached detailed photos of the bow and have enhanced the brands for your reference. There are three brands on the stick - “ALBERT NÜRNBERGER” in a sans-serif font above the frog, "1896" and "No. 5729" on the underside of the frog. As I understand it, the sans-serif font was used by Franz Jr. from 1884 when he took over the business until around 1910, when the serif font began to be used. Does anyone have any thoughts?
  2. Dear friends, I fell for this bow, and plunged head first. Apparently it is a Nürnberger but is not stamped. I have not as yet consulted the " DEUTSCHE BOGENMACHER" in detail but any pointers out there would be most welcome. I have included a link below. Many thanks. https://photos.app.goo.gl/d2rhFeJ9wSC9uamd6
  3. I recently picked up this Nurnberger Violin bow that plays quite nicely. It's stamped Albert Nurnberger with an engraving beside the frog that I believe reads "W Germany". Given the West Germany stamp, would anyone be able to give an idea of when it was made? No stars next to the name either.
  4. My first post here. I'm afraid I don't see how to upload an image. I will just use words. I'm looking at an *Albert Nurnberger* bow said to be from 1907. I see two discrepancies and wonder whether they indicate that this bow isn't the genuine item. First, the stars are not in line with the rest of the stamp. They're both separated from the main part of the stamp, and they're off center. Second, as I understand, the stars were not included in the stamp until 1920 or so. (If anyone can tell me how to upload a picture, I will do so.) Thanks!
  5. Hello, Hoping someone can help me. I have a violin that is engraved/carved on the inside with the following, "Reprinter Berlin 1857". I was told by the local Luthier that it is a Nurnberger. There are also two bows, one silver, the other has some nickel also Nurnberger. Does anyone know what that engraving means? Also, a Nurnberger w/that date would be Franz Albert Senior??? Any idea on value? No photo, they are at the Luthier. Thanks!
