  1. I was wondering if you could help in authenticating a violin which was my grangfathers, its labeled Germany Joseph Guarnerius fecit + Cremona anno 1743 IHS, its been played and repaired alot which may indicate its age, any help would be great!
  2. I'm going to start out by saying I'm pretty sure its a reproduction of some sorts by how the name is spelled incorrectly compared to other spellings, but might as well get a second opinion. Recently my dear great grandfather rest his soul passed away due to complications of COVID. Before his passing he always said it was an authentic violin and now that he is gone it has been handed down to me and I would like to frame it or possibly restore it if its worth the money. He served during WW2 and was based in France for a short period with the 87th Signal Company, I've never asked where he g
  3. Need help identifying this violin. Don’t know much about it, had it laying around our house. After some research I learned about Joseph Guarnerius. Here are pictures. Tag reads: Modle HEPolley, (next line reads) jos-Guarnerious that is what I could make out, hand writing kinda sloppy. The violin is kept in the case, don’t know if that is special but yeah. Thanks for the help!
  4. Need some identification. It’s been sitting around our house for awhile, decided to finally check what it could be. After doing some quick research, I figured out that guarnerious violins can be expensive. It was also in this case, not sure if authentic. Let me know what you guys think.
  5. Hello, I have found old violin which belonged to my grandfather. I do not understand instruments and therefore I would like to ask you for help. I have found on the web that there are many copies of these Joseph Guarnerius violins. Could anybody give me any estimate how much this is worth? It is not in a great condition but still playable. Is this non-labelled but old and in good condition bow worth any value? See pics below. Thank you very much in advance. https://www.dropbox.com/s/su7uox34ff5zqdd/20150820_171126.jpg?dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/s/6lfz11ucpje1y2q/20150820_171137.jpg?d
