Could I possibly get some info on my violin? I bought it a year or so ago for £2200 and was told it was possibly around 1780s? The label is barely visible on the inside so I’ve edited the photo to make it appear more visible. Im well aware it’s not a genuine stainer and the labels are often faked. I’m an amateur vet med student who plays for fun so this is purely out of curiosity as I’d love to know a bit more about my instrument. It has a beautiful sweet and mellow sound so it certainly suits my needs as a non professional!

Hello friends: A friend of my mom wanted to sell me an old German violin. It has a label inside which says: copy of Giovan Paolo Maggini made in Germany From the information on the Internet, I assume that it is a German factory violin of the 20th centrury. It has been repaired several times and it has 4 scrolls and a nice tone. Yes I really like that tone. On its back there's a pattern, I'm wondering if it means the brand of the factory or something else. I think the pictures may help. My mom's friend tell me it should cost 4500 dolars. Can anyone give me some advice? Thanks, Monica

Can anyone please help in identifying my violin? I suspect it is a German copy but any help would be great. It has a very pretty one piece back and the scroll seems nice to me, but I'm just a player trying to learn more about instruments so I just bought this in a local sale as I liked the look of it. The peg holes seem to have been rebushed and I can see the lines of what seem to be a neck graft but only visible in good light. May not be easily seen on my pictures. I'm guessing this means it is quite old.
