We've set the date of April 21-22, 2023 for our next meeting and maker's competition. It will be held at Wildacres Retreat in western North Carolina just off the Blue Ridge Parkway. 2 full days of presentations and workshops, accommodations on or off site. Check in will be Thursday afternoon, April 19, and check out on Sunday morning, April 23. RULES 1. Draw a violin outline with f holes free hand (without any technical help of a ruler or divider). It is allowed to make a drawing looking at a picture. 2. Please post your drawing and nothing else, no comments on your own drawing are allowed. 3. Each participant can submit one drawing. 4. Drawings can be submitted until December 31,2021 5. No comments allowed until 1-1-2022, not even on your own drawing. 6. In January participants can give awards to each other and make comments. Funny names for the awards are allowed, but with respect please. Comments on your own drawing are then allowed too. People who made the drawing from a picture may show the picture. 7. No word fights, no comments using YouTube. 8. Lets have fun! 9. for any questions PM me please.

At close of play, I hit a bar with the audio team and was halfway down a wheat-beer when the Mendelssohn concerto came over the sound system. We tried guess-the-soloist. Not Heifetz, Milstein, Ida, Oistrakh. Not x, y or z, the recent Gramophone covers. Not anyone else we recognised. Who, then? I asked to see the CD cover. To our horror, the player was the same overrated soloist whose vanities we had endured all day long, his sound as insipid as instant coffee. The kaleidoscopic art of violin playing had lost its flavour, like chewing-gum, in the pop song, on the bedpost overnight.

The Southern Violin Association announces its first “MAKERS COMPETITION” which will take place April 20-24, 2017. This is open to violins only. The venue for this event will be at a conference facility in Black Mountain, North Carolina, about 15 miles east of the city of Asheville. · Violins must be less than 5 years old · Must not have received any previous awards · There will be a NOVICE award for a maker that has not yet completed more than 10 instruments · There will be a special award for a high-scoring violin by a maker from one of the states identified in our logo. · This competition is open to the public, but to participate, you will need to be, or become, a member of the association. · More than one violin may be entered, acceptance of a second instrument will depend on the total number of entrants. Hi all, I don’t know if it is proper to post this topic here or not. I am looking for a cello competition for 8 grader student near Boston area but cannot find any good information from web. School teacher and my private cello teacher did not give me too much help either. My cello teacher is a very detail and very professional teacher. Sometimes when we spent months to finished a music, she said I can try a competition by that piece of music. This time she told me that again which is very encourage me. I have joined school district competition last year and I am seeking some other competitions. Bigger or smaller one does not matter to me because I need to experience it. I am very appreciated if someone can give me information about this or give me direction where I can start. YuCello

The Animato International Violin Competition is little known around the world, but has a very generous prize purse as well as the top performer is given the opportunity to play with a full orchestra commanded by John Curro and receives a Guarneri replica violin, handcrafted by Konrad Kohlert, valued at $20,000 AUD The Animato International Violin Competition is for violin players 17 and under as of the 24 November 2013. This year's competition will be held over the 22-24 November weekend in the historic Old Museum Building, Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. The final performance will be on 24 November, 2pm.
