Just curious; how do factories price/market their bows? Outside of the obvious I mean. For example, I have one each of two different brands of "good" factory bows. I can find the occasional example of them on-line - but only ever of inexpensive student bows sold either individually or included in a package. I have not been able to find any examples of the high quality ones. However - obviously, they are available. So why can't I find examples of them on-line? I am not planning on selling mine - but if I did, it would be hard to convince a buyer that they are worth considerably more than $69.99 - if that's the only reference available.

Looking at my various bows (mostly really cheap to 'better' quality. One is very good. None (to date) are 'top' quality)...I'm still missing something in the making/pricing aspect. I understand the quality/cost of the stick is a main player...but beyond that? When someone makes a bow from scratch...they can also make their own frog, How long does it take to make one (once you know what you are doing)? Or you can buy premade frogs. I see premade frogs made out of the same fine ebony, tortoiseshell, horn, shell, mammoth, etc. that the handcrafted ones are made out of. How do you determine when to use nickel or silver (or gold alloy or gold?). While silver seems to be on the 'better' bows...it is not always. I assume everyone buys the buttons? Or can you make those too? The heels, etc. would be purchased? I know you can make your own eye and slide...is there huge variation in quality of materials there? It's such a small bit of material. What about the grip and winding? Is there anyway to tell quality there (without taking a bow making course?). The tip? The white part is plastci or bone (was ivory)...the black part is made out of? Ebony? Plastic? What about the screw? Surely those are purchased...but how much variation in quality is there with those? I understand bow hair quality...so that's not confusing (at least something isn't confusing...lol). Any and all bits of information are greatly appreciated!
