Hi, a rapid search on Abebooks for luthier books show a few hits https://www.abebooks.fr/products/isbn/9780962067358?cm_sp=rec-_-pd_detail-1-d_0-_-plp&reftag=pd_detail-1-d_0 but no hits on gut-stringed baroque-style violins. Does anyone have a suggestion of a good book on the measurements of baroque-styled gut stringed violins? Thanks

FOR SALE: Used copy of "the British Violin" in very good condition This well known book was published by the British Violin Making Association to accompany the 1998 exhibition "400 years of violin and bow making in the British Isles". In addition to the superb photographs and instrument data, there is an excellent and informative historical section dealing with the major figures in the development of violin family instrument and bow makers. This is a used copy with some marks and yellowing on the cover but otherwise in very good condition. If you need any further description don't hesitate to contact me. The price of the book is £125 with free postage and packing within the UK and Royal Mail postage rates outside the UK.

Hello, I am trying to find much more information about bowmaking. As i don't use power tools and my method is closer to the French, i would like to know if there is any book available. Regh's bow making book, as also Henderson's (i don't have my own copies but as i know) are based to different making methods, not by hand tools. I read about the Bolander's book, that is based on the French method but i cannot find it anywhere. Is there any else good book for bow making?

Hello, I am a new maker trying to source Sacconi's "Secrets of Stradivari" book. It is proving to be a hard book to find these days. If you have a used copy to spare please let me know. I understand it is an invaluable resource. Thanks, J

Hi everybody!! I would like to share with you this book: Fundamentals of Interpretation By Edoardo Catemario I think it's a great new entry in my personal list of the "books of my music library". It's a little manual that contains all those information that every expert musician knows. It's written by Edoardo Catemario who said: "It took me over 15 years to make it as concise as possible and is now only 36 pages. Everything you need in order to understand the very basic knowledges of interpretation is here". The book is in pdf format and is free to download: http://www.catemario.com/blog/?page_id=683 I hope to have been helpful to anyone who wants to play better following the "Art" of a great musician. Hello all, Gotta raise some funds and need to sell my recently acquired Weisshaar & Shipman book. I don't think I need a lengthy explanation of what this book is or why you should own it here, but just in case, I'll do it anyway. If you want to repair violins as a hobby or professionally, you need this book. Period. Many consider it the benchmark for all repair and restoration manuals concerning the violin. If you don't think you need it, just go ahead to do a few violins on your own - you're bound to have questions that this book will answer (with pictures!) This is the 2nd printing, 1999. Anyway, this book has always been used gently and has no "shop patina" on it as many repair manuals do. It's like-new. I paid $325 + shipping new, but I'll let it go for a bargain at $290 shipped. If you want to pay by Paypal, please add 3% ($8.70) otherwise, a Money Order or Cashier's check is fine. Thanks for looking!
