  1. A bit Background Story : This Violin is my Friend's Family Heritage, since CoVid 19 hit,his economic situation is a bit down the hill so he tried to sell this Violin, there's a couple offer's already made to him by a person that is supposed to appraise this violin(approximately around $2,500 by the time i posted this July 5th 2023). Because of this i'm curious whether this Violin is an actually an authentic Nicolo Amati's Violin or not,and what's a reasonable price for this Violin and is there any repairing effort/reconstruction effort can be made to make this Violin's Condition let's say ready to sell(The Condition since it's been sitting there for quite some time since nobody in his family played or understand on how to maintain a Violin). I'm grateful for any input or any Background Story about this Violin.
  2. Hello! I am from Russia (I don’t know English well, I translate it through Google). There is one violin Schweitzer copy Amati pestini 1814, it has long been evaluated by the master in Moscow. The master said that the violin is a manufactory, but not a lot of fake, but a good copy, which is included in the catalog, one of the 30 that are in the catalog. Please tell me how much will such a violin cost? I was thinking about evaluating the violin in London, but this assessment is very expensive for me and more, and suddenly the master from Moscow was mistaken and I have a simple fake for $ 100. The photo cannot be inserted, because it is limited by the moderator. Joh.Bapt.Schweitzer fecit at forin Hferonym Amati pestini 1814 (stamp on the lower deck inside the violin) Under the stamp in blue ink, the letters "I H" and something else are blurry. A copy of Amati - corresponds to the year - good condition - was not under repair.
  3. The Metropolitan Museum of Art's Department of Musical Instruments closed its doors on February 22, 2016 for renovations. Rumored to reopen in the spring of 2017, the wing and the instruments contained therein are on lock down. Well, after much detective work, I located a hidden display case that museum staff and curators don't want anyone to see. It contains three important violins of Amati, Amati and Strad. The security units noticed me snooping around the showcase but before they could do anything about it I popped off a series of iPhone images. I'm sure these legendary instruments have been presented in a much better light and lens countless times over, but maybe through the glass, with a standard phone camera, in poor lighting, with glare, and under pressure from approaching security, these images might be interesting to a couple of you. And if you're visiting before spring 2017, you'll have to try to find these for yourself. This week they were in room 500 (I didn't tell you that) but after the incident with my iPhone, I think these are likely being moved or put back into storage.
