Hello I'm putting this out there to see if anyone can help me. My mother just moved house and she doesn't have room for the cello any more. Not sure how much it is worth but it was made by a relative in the 1880s, so I want to make sure it's not damaged. I bought a hard case for it but would like a box to protect the case during shipping. I will ship it fedex UK to USA. It's a full size cello. The case dimensions are 140 x 56.5 x 39 cm. It came in a box but unfortunately that box is no longer available. I contacted the casemanufacturer and they haven't responded. Does anyone hav
I was browsing a site called the-saleroom.com in the hopes of finding a nice instrument listed in a live auctions. I searched for a Scottish violin hoping to find a few armature made or cheap antique Scottish violins. I found one at an auction in Glasgow which seemed like just what I wanted: 'SCOTTISH VIOLIN early 20th century' was the description so I waited for the auction and made a bid. The violin went for much less than I thought so was happy with my purchase but a little suspicious. The violin on the picture looked in good condition with yellowish varnish, a light wooden tail piece
Good Monday Morning All, I need to arrange for a viola case in the UK. I need to send it to a maker to have a viola shipped to me here in the US. Is there a UK equivalent of Shar or someone like that that I could just call, use a credit card and take care of it over the phone? I am a little out of it but I am hopeful this is not too big a thing. I don't have time to have a case made and it is about a 16" viola. Thanks Folks, Dwight DLB
