  1. I just got an email from The Strad that 6 posters are going to be back in stock. No violas though. I just posted the Messiah as it would not let me post the whole ad. DLB SPECIAL OFFER - HURRY: offer ends 31 March In response to public demand, brand new reprints of our six most-requested posters are now available at The Strad Library. Four instruments by Antonio Stradivari and two by Giuseppe Guarneri 'del Gesù' are featured, including high-quality photographs of the front, back and scroll. The back of every poster includes exact measurements of the instrument, making every one an essential reference point for anyone planning to make their own copy. NOW only £12.70 / €17.15 / $19.05 – WAS £14.95 / €20.18 / $22.43 That is 15% off with this exclusive online discount. Enter code POSTER15 in the coupon/voucher box in your shopping basket. HURRY, offer ends end of March. Antonio Stradivari 'Messiah' Violin 1716 poster Stradivari's 1716 'Messiah' violin is one of the most coveted in the world. The pristine condition of the instrument, made during his 'golden period' and barely played since then, offers unique insights into the mind o
  2. Hi all. I spent ages searching high and low for information about these models because I'd really like to try my hand at making them. I'm guessing there are others out there in the same predicament. Turns out that these discontinued Strad posters are available through inter-library loan to any library in the US (at least that's what one lady at Eastern Illinois University told me over the phone). The info you need is here: A, Stradivari 1712 'Davidov' cello: http://vufind.carli.illinois.edu/all/vf-eiu/Record/1535394 Brothers Amati 1620 viola: http://vufind.carli.illinois.edu/all/vf-eiu/Record/1535144/Holdings Gaspar de Salo 1580 viola: http://vufind.carli.illinois.edu/all/vf-eiu/Record/1535389 They also have the 1742 'Alard' Guarneri Del Gesu violin poster (http://vufind.carli.illinois.edu/all/vf-eiu/Record/1535143), and the 1693 cello and 1700 violin by Matteo Gofriller (http://vufind.carli.illinois.edu/all/vf-eiu/Record/1502099) (http://vufind.carli.illinois.edu/all/vf-eiu/Record/1535374). However, these 3 posters can be purchased new from (http://www.orpheusmusicshop.com/posters.html). By the way Orpheus music shop recently re-released quite a few of the older, popular posters of instruments by A. Stradivari and Guarneri 'Del Gesu', so you might want to check them out again if you haven't lately. As you can see the posters are of the folded variety, but are otherwise generally in good condition (The exception being that some philistine attached a sticker to the top upper bout of the de Salo viola, and then removed it carelessly.) I returned them to my local library today, so it'll probably be a week or more before they are ready to go out again. In closing, always remember to support your local library when they are fundraising. Thanks, joel
