I am looking for opinions on this violin. I have one valuation that states that this is late 19th century Mittenwald violin made by Hornsteiner family luthier. Another violin dealer agreed that this is a Mittenwald instrument but it looks way more exiting than Hornsteiner instrument. All I can add as a player is that it is loud as a cannon and not in bad way. The label inside says Adolph Spicker dealer and repairer Cincinnati O, which obviously means that he imported the violin as a part of his business. What do you think?
I have a Mittenwald violin that Im working on, and upon removing the back plate for repairs, I noticed a difference in the way the neck is attached to the neck block. Is this common on Mittenwald violins, or could it have been the work of a repairman who reset the neck at some point? Here is a photo. Thank you.
