Hi, I was just given an older Amati copy violin. It in very poor condition, I'm going to restore it.
The top will be off, I'll post the label when the top is off if I can figure out how to do pictures off my phone.
Looks like two signatures on the inside, varying Amati signatures.
I've been told this happened regularly when they were brought through Ellis Island?
My main question, there is a signature in ink on the G side of the violin between the bouts.
It looks like Corcos?"
I have a picture, but haven't been able to figure out how to post it yet...
Does anyone have any idea what this signature might be from?
The only thing that I've been able to find online is that Corcos is an area in Sicily?
Thank you for any input..
