    Twin Violins?

    Centi-megatuplets.
  3. For those areas of violin arches which can most closely resemble a curtate cycloid namely in the cross sections near the corners, the inside will often be very close to a cycloid if the plates are smooth. This is a specific example of a more general situation where a curtate cycloid on the outside of a typical violin plate implies a (very nearly) cycloid on the inside. You might as well start from the inside. If that is your inclination
  4. Is that parabolic or elliptical? If those bows were tillered similarly to a wooden archery bow they would be useful for drawing circles. This is a slightly redundant thing to say in that bows are often tillered to form a smooth circular curve when 'drawn'.
  5. It's used as a laxative.
  6. " the glass transition temperature of zinc resinate is approximately 160°C compared to raw rosin which is around 52°C."
  7. Yup. Or they could be 3d printed in a castable resin, and lost wax cast in investment. Alternatively cast from a pattern using Delft casting sand.
  8. Be careful, it looks like you have a Dalek in your basement.
  9. You're better off using one of the Vuillaume steel bows for that.
  10. Nose smoky and sulphurous, hints of flint together with notes of citrus and wildflowers.
  11. What diameter is your cabinet? I like the idea of the curved aluminium and maybe making one in two semicircular halves would make it storable. (Or 3 or 4 etc.) I used to have a square cab about 750mm but no room for it now so currently I use uv floodlights and retorts which all go back in the cupboard afterwards.

  13. Squareness of the ribs is a different topic to squareness of the corners since the latter depends on the form free carving of the corner blocks.
  14. Seems very compact. With a 16" id the leds would be 4" away versus 2" so the intensity of light arriving on the surface would be only 1/4 as much. But that's only for the ribs. The exposure contrast between the ribs and edges versus the middle of the front and back would be 3 to 4 times greater in the 12" than the 16 so it depends on whether that is important or not as to what size is used. A small metal bin (24"?) lined with aluminised plastic blanket or foil might be good and has other uses as HoGo suggested if it doesn't work out. Aliexpress have 5v, 500mm germicidal led strips supposedly UVc for AU$5.79 and free delivery if you order three or more.
  15. As far as basic physics goes soundboards behave quite differently to membranes.
