Statefulness is the reason you can have a conversation instead of just asking questions. The only solution I've heard of is holding the violin swung at the chin rest to be more in front so that when the short bow arm is extended the bow is still straight at the tip. I suppose you could also slide it up toward the shoulder to reduce the extension needed. I wouldn't say it's the end of the world to accept some slanted bow at the tip either.
