  1. I started my first violin at 17 or so, so I didn't do much before then except go to school and work for my dad a couple of summers. Fifty years or so later I still haven't finished the violin, but I do still have some of the parts I collected! And I have realized how off I was at 17. The book I was working from mentioned DB, so he has been an icon my whole life. As far as work goes, I have done everything except turn tricks and go to space. My best gigs were some time in computer security. What would I do otherwise? Maybe turn tricks in space!
  2. There's a video of the Indianapolis competition from 40 years ago that's pretty different from competitions today, but I don't know if it reflects playing back then, or maybe who that competition drew back then.
  3. There's Johnny Ringo the cowboy, and Johnny Ringo the space cowboy.
  4. ^It's a sweet deal for you! Part of it is it's a strategic industry at this point. Picture everything the Brits subsidized in WWII
  5. You mean the one who tried to get Doctor Holiday to get back in the office?
  6. The social problems in the U.S. predated the USSR's capitalizing on them during the cold war. Propaganda is most effective when the enemy's position has some truth that can be mischaracterized and twisted to suit his goals.
  7. Also loved swinging London. https://www.youtube.com/shorts/Ur3iXuj2Mao
  8. Loved the Fab Four. None of the gritty amateurism of the Stones though.
  9. @Urban LuthierDidn't mean to offend if I did. I also hate what it's doing to videos in the wrong hands. Waste happens with all resources though. Could object to new car factories because most people drive around in circles
  10. ^There's a foreign influence campaign out there fomenting opposition to "data center construction".
  11. How is anything conscious unless mathematics is conscious? The anything is just a medium, right?
  12. Kim also plays a fiddle by Alexander Hazin, according to something I read.
  13. ^Young Gitlis is different than older Gitlis. But every big soloist can play anything they want to play and be amazing, so comparing them is just a matter of preference.
  14. When I took photography the teacher had us buy an 18% gray card to set the exposure. Then a couple of weeks later he mentioned you can just meter the palm of your hand and add one stop instead of using the card.
  15. ^He seems to be using stealth frets or something. In Daniel Kurganov's video they're easy to see and the two talk about everything under the sun except what that is
