Bill Merkel replied to palousian's topic in The Fingerboard
I wondered what microphone Joe Rogan has sitting there on his podcast so I thought ok, this is going to be the most famous current microphone, so I looked it up and Shure enough, it's your 7B... -
I'd hate to see the price of a Snap-on bow.

I like this story. Nobody gets covid, but it's good anyway.

The only difference between it and kittens is ...well, no significant difference

When I was a little kid, we'd shine up silver dimes by rubbing mercury on them. Quarters too, if we could get our hands on one. Makes them real shiny. We didn't drink it, but it was considered perfectly safe to be around and handle

^To a singer, Handel is probably as hard as anything else. I don't see why it wouldn't be. For an orchestra, including the conductor, there are sections that sound right at any speed. Sections that will never sound too fast. A fundamental requirement of orchestra violinist in general is to be able to play really, really, really fast

I don't know of any civilizations that failed because of their environment's inability to sustain a larger population. Shortages from overpopulation is old thinking, like the coming ice age Today's problem is shortages from slowdown of innovation that leads to famine in poor countries, low birth rate in rich ones, increasing age, decreased industrial output, and other problems, ending in the collapse of civilization...

^Anti-civilization, are ya?

The human population is falling steeply, heading below the level needed to sustain civilization

Guadagnini Violin seized by Moldavian Authorities
Bill Merkel replied to l33tplaya's topic in The Pegbox
She'd need a statement from a luthier to leave Moldova, I think she was told, and the Moldovan luthier wrote the Moldovan antiquities stuff, and then when she tried to leave, it was seized. Maybe the authorities think it's stolen and nabbed it this weird way while they investigate, or could be a coincidence https://www.petitieonline.com/freeguadagnini- 17 replies

^I have written them a letter suggesting and recommending it be changed to your birthday.

The usual is to contact a good shop, mail order/web if need be, and they will send you several to try. Keep the one you want or send them all back. Normal process, easy, they're used to it and set up for it. There's a good chance they will ask for your teacher's contact info. If they do, give them the name of a friend, and if you buy the bow they will get a kickback and owe you a dinner

I found this awhile back, which looks like it's from the manuscript part in the video. You could add it to that if it isn't too scrunched to line up right. I'm kind of intriuged by the rest in the first half bar and in the first bar in the manuscript. Maybe there was something in mind that's pretty different from what we have with this. But the reconstruction is pretty faithful to the keyboard piece that it comes from and it obviously works http://conquest.imslp.info/files/imglnks/usimg/b/b8/IMSLP497489-PMLP805617-bachNBAVI,1sonataVI,5satz(f)indenhandschriftenEviolinosoloebassol'accompagnatoBWV(1019a).pdf

(DB) Good orchestration means what you're talking about, plus the conductor can tone down anything competing... I mean i don't immediately see anything that makes that situation different compared to carrying from one end of a field to the other. I've heard of certain timbres carrying better, but it should carry better everywhere...

Hey, doc. I love this movement too. The part you're referring to is reconstructed and I haven't found if written anywhere except for in the video you posted. I will probably write it down from the video someday. Good aid to memorization too
