  1. Buying Francois Denis - Traite de Luthier book. Offer in complete only. Kimmo
  2. It goes just over the middle hole in bottom of the arch. I also see light seen through the upper hole, might be hole drilled in from the top end, and also, looks like there is possibly hole in the lower end too. Hard to say when all pictures are full of shadows. If you imagine gluing the crack back together, the hole at top end would look pretty much round. Maybe the crack happened when tightening clamps there 2000 times. Edit: And I mean holes bored from ends towards the middle hole. In the same direction as the crack.
  3. But the hole in the middle and carved slot for bolt head would tell there is much missing from this cradle. I suspect it has been rotatable, and the notch could be only for smaller clamps to hold plates not to move upwards. Would be great to see the other side of the cradle, then it would tell all, if there is rotating scratches.
  4. It is possible that this original cradle seen in these photos, is not made of a large clean new blank. I am thinking that the piece of wood has been taken of from one other article. Thats why there is unecessary holes, and the size is thin. Maybe piece of something from church, isnt the "flower" or what is it, picturing something religious?
  5. The critical measures would be enought, not every sircle. I dont know if there are patterns today for P, G and PG models. I think I have seen those in internet somewhere. I have to contact Denis and see what this book costs. At least the photos of forms seems good.
  6. Bad luck continues. Just got the designi-modelli-forme book. The picture does have a hardcovers, but this does not. Packet was also missing the CD. Also no photos or measures for violin F-hole positioning, swich was the reason to buy the book. The top cover of the book is incorrect by then, but it has the best photo of this book. Does the Denis book have all for F-hole positioning?
  7. I see this book is only in italian. It would make reading too hard. But if there are clear phototexts telling from what the photo is, maybe it is worth it. Are the important photos in 1:1 sizes?
  8. Well, thats what the book is worth of. People says the price. Good luck selling yours for 3000.
  9. Everyone knows the Amazon price is not correct. No one never pays. This book was in Ebay end of summer and ended up between 120-150$, swich is the correct price. I was in bad position to bid. People says the price in auctions. You can ask what you want, but are you sure you will get intrests.
  10. This way its too easy, and not so suitable for my old style tools. I also want to investigate all the stradivari measures. Its not only that I want to directly copy it onto the wood.
  11. I am looking for the book with its measurements. Not only for molds, but F-hole positioning in Stradivari style. I already have seen all the drawings and pictures from the internet. And those are all different, when you compare them. Does the Francois Denis book have the Stradivari F-hole positioning?
  12. I dont use finished products. I wonder why this kind of shop does not have the powder. I dont think 2 teaspoons in almost a litre milk is too much, this is the minimum the milk required to make some effort. Now I even tried to wash the casein very well, I ripped it in small pieces and washed it several times. Still same result. It is not going liquid. Here is my can on calcium hydroxide. I bought it from aquarium shop since it was cheaper than in other places. It says very dangerous for eyes, do not breath, do not touch. Calcium Hydrocide 95-100%. To me it seems real stuff. But still its not biting. I think I go for this one then: http://cheminent.fi/index.php?display=main&view=product&productid=14220 It just would be really annoying to waste 30€ again. If this is not working either, I promise to eat the whole bucket. How can I know there is 100 different kind of calcium hydroxide, even if all have the same numbers. Seems bullshit but its true.
  13. Is this calcium hydroxide? I dont know why the site does not mention about it. http://www.kremer-pigmente.com/en/fillers-und-building-materials/limes/529/pit-lime Any experienses with this kremer product? Does it work in casein glue and ground making?
  14. Again, this is what I did but in larger size (too large but about the same ratio) I dont know if the word "spongy" or "foamy" describles the stuff i got from it. Tiny bubbles, nothing else. (kuohkea kuplia täynnä oleva, lähes väritön sekoitus) Maybe the lime is the problem then... I then have to buy new calcium hydroxide. I used this for my varnish too. It seemed to work but I will get rid of it. Waste of time and money.
  15. This is how I did it in the first message when using quark. I did not get any casein lumbs like in Peters pictures. All what happened was tiny bubbles almost clear, very soft. The milk seemed to disappear completly.
