  1. Sounds are great but are they not also very subjective?
  2. The CPI that you are using is not really a measure of true inflation, it represents a market basket of goods which might not reflect the items which are being measured. A better indicator IMHO for better or worse is to take a similar violin or group of violins and price them in the various time periods involved. Measurement of true inflation is almost an individual project despite the broad indexes used by statistical governmental agencies.
  3. Where is the poll? Easy...online I always use a first name and a S. As to the icon ...again, easy...picked one that matched me!!!
  4. Which search feature...the one that is labeled ...search listings???
  5. Yes, but it also includes part of Canada...BUT it does not show a flag for New Jersey!!!
  6. It does not appear to be an over supply, since prices for both new instruments and for repairs have been steadily increasing .IMHO
  7. Rosin, Pitch pipes and a cleaning cloth. But then this case has only one compartment!!!
  8. Hartt School of Music at the University of Hartford CT.
  9. Good luck with the GOO B Gone...this old jerk tried to remove some stickiness on my fiddle and it turned out a disaster...must have rubbed too had for while the "stick" is gone...the surface was roughed up. Never again will this jerk try anything but restringing!!!
  10. Yuen...hope your comment was made in jest!!! I definitely did not want to make fun of any body , just wanted some opinions from experts. Thank you all for your comments.
  11. Momma G...is this fiddle black or is it the photos???
  12. Perhaps some one of you players can tell me which is easier to learn: Violin or Accord ian???
  13. But...the court's decision relates to bows and not to violins. Also, it is a bit confusing since seems to me it is true that the hair in a bow will deteriorate and have to be replaced but how are the other parts of the bow affected by use. Seems that the assenting judges interpreted the ACRS rules to relate strictly to a tax break and not to what is happening . Seems to me that the IRS will not take that as settled law. Are the bows subject to depreciation recapture when sold? What is the basis of the bows for capital gain treatment??? There are some fairly complex rules here.
  14. Please explain exactly what you mean by ...commission an instrument ...also what is your primary business???

Yuen...your comments are right on the money ...IMHO.
