In 1990, after haphazardly messing around with violins on my own for many years, I started taking summer classes in instrument repair with Hans Nebel and Horst Kloss and classes in bow rehair/repair/making with Arnold Bone and Lynn Hannings at the University of New Hampshire and at the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts. At the same time I began running a small violin shop at my home which continues to keep me entertained and well-fed. I repair instruments and bows for other people, and I also buy stuff to fix and re-sell. For amusement I play Irish fiddle music and occasionally play for contra dances.
