If any of the following describe or interest you, please consider taking my survey: German, WWII vet, Jewish, Czech/Slovak/Polish/Hungarian etc.; history, war, racism, feminism, politics, philosophy, psychology, oratory, nazism, Hitler, volk, holocaust, media bias, justice, prejudice, historical accuracy, international relations. I’m trying to get some informed input for my original oratory piece for a competition in October, but it’s a lot more than that. I’ve been slightly more than obsessed with WWII for as long as I can remember, and I’ve appropriated it as my field of study. Any contributed opinion is appreciated!!

  3. But how do you go about trying new strings? A whole set at a time, or is there a more time- and money-efficient method?
  4. How many people have experimented with different strings? Do you have to buy a whole set, or can you just buy one (and which one)? How did you choose the strings you use on your instrument?
  5. I've recently acquired a large sum of money *cough cough* and I'm using it to buy some books. I have about 30$ to work with, actually. Does anyone know of a book of bowing excersizes similiar to Sevick's 40 variations? I looked at his Op. 2 and it's not what I'm looking for. Also, any LH agility, shifting, etc. Scales and Etudes. Basically, I'm trying to find some books to help me develope my technical skills. Finally, where do you order your music? Thank you!
  6. I actually caught a concert live where she performed the Elgar. It was fantastic IMHO, but I hadn't heard the piece before so I hadn't much grounds for comparison.

  13. Hahn is awesome! She was my first major concert attendance too, and was worth going. She stayed ion the lobby to sign CDs afterwards, even talking with her fans (she told me to go to Budapest..)
  14. Hello. I'm going to be in a hotel shortly, and I'm not certain I'll be able to practice. Are there any excersizes I can do while I'm there?
  15. while still dealing with the problem you mentioned, i have found it helps for me to raise my right knee- preferably by resting it on a stool, as trying to suspend it in mid-air for long periods of time is rather painful- and bow towards it. it also helped me to think about my wrist.
