  1. No idea, but his name is Rautenkolb, with a B at the end, and the Currency is probably the Kreuzer, that was used in northern Germany until the late 18-hundreds.
  2. Oh, they are really old, older than western notated music. It was used in folk music, and in medieval music. The first notated examples seems to be from the 1400s. It is common in all instrumental and in vocal music as a part of the en point d'orgue in the ending cadence (part of the way the chords are used in the music) from all notated periods. During the baroque period the composers thought that they where more important than the performer and they started notating the cadenza to "hinder" the performer from tastless improvising, but it didn't really catch on until the 1900s with a few exceptions, like the Mendelssohn and Joachim concerti. Oh, and there are some cadenzas written by Vivaldi for his concertos as well, see for example his Violin Concerto in D, RV 212.
  3. Sheet music. I havn't counted the different Cadenza Recordings I own. How I have collected? Well, I have been collecting violin related Books, Sheet Music and Recordings for over 30 years, so it is a bunch. I guess I own or have heard most recordings most can think of. Why? Guess I am nuts... It started as a school project where I wanted to compare all the printed editions of the Paganini Caprices. Now I own some 45 editions of what I believe are 65 in total. The recordings have never been a special focus, but it comes with the territory. Speaking of the Paganini Caprices, there I own 114 recordings and I belive that I am only missing less than 20 to have the complete set. When you start to have a decent collection it is easy to get in contact with others that are as nuts as you, and then it gets a lot easier to collect the rare stuff. Oh, and money. You need money and a patient wife.
  4. You realize that you responded to a 20 year old thread? Well, if you are just listing Cadenzas for the Beethoven Concerto, I have about 70 in my collection, and I know of about 20 more that I am missing. So there are atleast 90 that I know of, and I probably only know of a fraction...

  6. I don't have it, but I was offered it once, but it was way to expensive. And to clarify, there are 12 books. 1-6 and 2 volumes of each. Volume 1a, 2a, 3a, 4a, 5a and 6a are the method, and 1b, 2b etc up to 6b are studies written to complement it. They were intended to be used at the same time, so 1a and 1b were intended to be studied at the same time.

  8. If anything I barely press at all on the c and increase the preassure (but that might be a sideeffect of contracting the hand to move to "normal" hand position) to move the finger down to b. It is quite possible to do the opposite as well, widen the hand, hit the c with curved finger and move the hand back to flatten the finger to hit the b.   9. I can only talk for my self here, but I would not release the (tiny) pressure that the fourth finger asserts here. Generally there is no need to release pressure in halfsteps.
  10. Excuse a novice here, but classical guitars have the "textured" soundboard. Is the violin to small for that, or is it an other reason?

  12. I took one isolated group agains one other. No one know how many that was exposed in the US and the same goes for Wuhan, so it is the best numbers that can be compared.

From https://www.cdc.gov/flu/about/season/flu-season-2017-2018.htm CDC estimates that from 2010-2011 to 2013-2014, influenza-associated deaths in the United States ranged from a low of 12,000 (during 2011-2012) to a high of 56,000 (during 2012-2013). The population of the US is about 327 million. That means that during the 2011-2012 season (12000/327,000,000) = 0.00003669724 of the population died. With the same numbers in Wuhan only 400 people would die (0.00003669724 x 11,000,000). That number is today over 3000. So if the same % would die in the US about 90,000 would die. And please concider that this is after only 2 months, and the flu season is 6 months according to CDC so that number is likely to increase.

  15. Somewhere you have to stop and think. If thousands of scientists and doctors, with a public record, goes public and says just about the same thing, and you decides to trust a Dr, that supposedly did things and who said things on a unnamed website without any record of truthkeeping. It is very sane and extremely good NOT to trust everything you hear on TV, but is even better not to trust odd things in wierd places by strange people.

    What does the subscription offer? Is it just to see more records per day, or are the records more detailed (more images etc)?

  20. You are making it to hard on yourself. The ear wants to hear the melody in tune (normally the top note), and the other note(s) have to adjust. When there are open strings involved they will not change the pitch of the other notes. Ex a Gm chord, open G, open D, the Bb a bit higher and the G in tune. On the other hand if there is an open string on top, the lower (fingered notes) have to change. Ex the C#-dim in the Chaconne, where the Bb have to be tuned to fit the open E-string.
