Right you are, sir. An epiphany just in time for Chinese New Year!
-
You know, I never thought I'd say this, but I'm actually starting to like you, Caspace. Kudos to you.
-
In my opinion, you're dead wrong (again). There is nothing you or anyone else can point out that is in violation. No specific names are mentioned, for starters. Next, just because you don't agree is no reason to "report". I'm afraid your argument just doesn't have a leg to stand on.

Great post.

I don't think you should attempt to act as an enforcer or mouthpiece for the moderator or the forum in general. Who are you?

This raises a more interesting question - which are considered good repair videos on Youtube?
-
Unbelievable. Typical.

Speaking as an American, I'd say that this fiddle is utter crap. But maybe it's good for a beginning student.

Gloomy Gus Saunders, of course.
-
It's also quite refreshing not to have Jacob Saunders call something yet another "usual rubbish" Schonbach box, late 19th century with fake certificate. And frankly I'm relieved that, for once--just this once--, I won't have to deal with the inevitable follow-up barrage of Saunders' caustic hate-emails berating me and demanding I "justify my f***ing existence", etc., etc.

Help me determine age and/or value of this violin

Drivel hyping firewood. -
This is actually interesting. Do you mind disclosing (in general terms only, of course) what tripped you up and also how you dealt with the situation? How did you later find out it was a copy?
-
Mr. Pedersano, we invite you to (re-)introduce yourself and cite any sources and credentials outside your own fairly active imagination.

Glenn... I can't hide when I log in anymore....

Same here. I don't like being "logged in" automatically. -
He never left...

Gaddawful. (sorry).

Does violin really need playing to open up?
stephen maloney replied to heritage's topic in The Fingerboard
I had a lingering suspicion/hypothesis/thought experiment that vibrations over long periods of time did something to the wood cells. Since joining this forum, that idea has been beaten so black and blue that I've decided to go underground with my theories and beliefs. As in Alabama bunker underground, taking a small fiddle with me, and my Wal-Mart shotgun and my Gideon's bible. "I know what I know and you and your scientific equations / devil's sentences can't change that" sort of thing... Seriously, it seems that we, the players, have no influence on the instruments; just the other way around. No wonder the violin is in the shape of a woman. Foiled again. -
Of course I'm endorsing it...with my current high bid. Please don't bid on it; I must have this!

I think there is a certain whimsy that Gadda - who deliberately made fakes to send to the Far East - is now being copied himself. www.amati.com ---------- James, did you mean fake Scarampellas? or?

I thought this looked familiar!
stephen maloney replied to stephen maloney's topic in The Auction Scroll
Correct, I understand that, Dan. What I was pointing out was how one $400+ violin is now being hyped/oversold a couple weeks later as a $4000+ violin, and the seller hasn't even changed the strings on it. -
Another Japanese violinist is stopped at Frankfurt Airport

The time has come for Poland to invade Germany and get on with it. Am I wrong? -

I would have expected a bit more collegial spirit between the gentle members of the Axis Powers...
