  1. So according to that information does that mean that Einsle never made violins but was only an expert in varnishing them? Interesting if true. Thanks
  2. I forgot to mention that this is in wonderful condition with very minor straches on the back. Made in 1926.
  3. Wow! I just found a G.Einsele made violin. Label reads George Nicholas Einsele Maker for William Lewis & Son. It has a wonderful full tone and wonderful action. The only information I found was "An Encyclopedia of the Violin". In the American made violins I see that his was a comment: "Produced instruments of exceptional quality, Marketed under the name of Wm Lewish and Son." I am thinking of buying this violin and was wondering what a good price would be. The lady who is selling it wants $1,500. Its probably worth every dollar as I've never played anyting that played and sounded so well. Thanks, Shermanfiddle
  4. I own a violin which was made by Joseph Collingwood, Ottumwa, Iowa. Great sound, and I like the action on it. His name is in An Encyclopedia of the Violin. Do you think that it may be worth mentioning? I feel unworthy of your great knowledge and expertise.
  5. I'm afraid that I've ask this question before, but did not receive any answers back. So this time I'm really in need of your help. Time is running out for me, as I will have a total shoulder replacement next month. I would like to know if there are ANY violinist who have had a complete shoulder replacement? Surely there must be someone out there who knows of someone who has had this proceedure? Im I the only one who has arthritis in their shoulder. My question is..Does it really work? Are you happy with the results? Can you still play the violin? Hoping for a kind person to respond to my perdicament. Thanks, Sherman
  6. I have found that a general toothpast and a damp cloth works great. Work slow and with light pressure. Looks great, smell's great! I have never ruined the varnish.
  7. I'm not completly sure that this is the violin case you are looking for, but I just saw an old coffin case on Ebay. Item number is #1501581922. with three days left it's price is about $10.00. Good Luck
  8. I'm 62 years old, and I've played the violin since I was 8 years old. The doctor said that I will need a shoulder replacement soon. He's not sure that I will be able to play the violin as well as I do now? Has anyone in the forum had a complete shoulder replacement, and were you able to play as well, or even better, since post surgery? Also, how long did it take to get back to playing well again? Thanks for your input.
