Bow making, traditional Irish music, poetry, backpacking, bouldering.
I currently work at Bernhardt House of Violins in Greenville, SC. I have a B. A. in English from North Greenville University with a concentration in creative writing. I grew up studying the violin and viola, but lost interest in high school and begin working on the instruments instead of playing them in the summers at a local music shop. Bernhardt House of Violins is a family business that opened in 2003; and, I came on board in January of 2004. After a few years learning instrument repair, my interest shifted to bows. I attended the UNH summer workshops with Lynn Hannings for five summers where I began bow making, and most recently have spent some time studying with Josh Henry. My main interest is bow making, but I specialize in repairs and restorations as well.
When I have free time, I mostly play guitar, bouzouki, tenor banjo, and the occasional mandolin in a local Irish band, and keep telling myself I need to pick the fiddle back up as it will be the most helpful in terms of my making. So, we'll see how it goes...
