Also, supposedly Jessica Alba took violin lessons for six months to play a solo in her new movie The Eye. I have no plans to see that movie...but was her solo any good? That would be pretty impressive after six months of lessons. Just watched the movie. I think she did alright. They most probably had a professional do the sound recording, but look-wise, she did okay. It was kind of obvious that she wasn't too experienced; her vibrato looked like a slight spasm, her right elbow was a little low, and her bowing was kind of stiff and curved. but I think it could've fooled others who haven't played before. Considering it was only 6 months of lesson, I think she did great. cool movie too.
  3. good for you, it was really exciting for me as well when I first started playing.

  5. I'm on my ipod almost 24 hours a day, hehe. You get used to the headphones after a while. I remember I used to hate those headphones that you had to stick in your ear. But now I prefer those because they're a bit more discreet.
  6. Thanks folks. lots of helpful advice. I appreciate it
  7. cool, thanks folks. I think I'm starting to get it. I think I actually managed to use advice from every post so far, heh. so thanks alot. woot!
  8. hmm, I'll try to do what you guys are suggesting. thanks a lot for the advice.
  9. hey folksI've been playing the violin for about 4 years now. I wasn't really serious about it until now though. But anyways, I have this amateur-ish problem where sometimes when I do a down bow using the whole bow, the bow starts to bounce a little. I'm usually pretty good at solving my own problems by experimenting different ways, but this one has me stumped. The only way I've been able to get around it so far was by moving my violin upwards so that it sort of forces the bow hair to stay on it. But I shouldn't have to do that I think. If anyone has some advice that would sure be great. thanks in advance.
