I have visited four violin stores and tried out thirty used violins but I still haven't found a decent violin under $2000. Can someone tell me if it is possible to find a good tonal quality violin under $2000? The bottom line is I want a violin that has a clear, rich, even and full tone. Any suggestions as to where or how to find such a violin within my price range? I live in the San Francisco/Bay area. Can anyone suggest an honest violin dealer in my area? Thanks.

The Thir style violin has a distingulished high arch or a big belly. Does any one know if the high arch really affects the tone of the instrument? If so in what ways? This style of violins is listed for around $6000. Thank you very much.

I have an old violin with this label: "Joseph Guarnerius Filius Andrae fecit Cremonae sub titulo S. Teresie 1642" I was told this is a French violin about 100 years old. It has a very rich tone and in good condition. Any info relates to history, market values would be greatly appreicated. Thank you.
