Proper bow hold - meaning, only the Thumb and index finger has largest contact with the bow? I usually wrap my index around the stick and add pressure when I bow...is this correct?

Can anyone tell me the various bow holds and how it affects one's playing?

I've been taking violin for 2 months and the only violin CDs in my library I have so far are Heifetz and Perlman; I have listened to samples of Rosand from SPOTLIGHT on VIOLIN ( I love the way he plays!) but not sure which ones to buy...I'd like to ask: how does one shop for their Classical CDs? I used to buy through'feeling' the CDs; It was intuitive judging, but have somewhat lost the ability in my later years
