  1. OK.. here's what's up... I played the violin from like K-8th grade or so... I started with Suzuki and finished all 10 books, so I went on to a so called prestugious program around here... I guess I was paired with the wrong teachers, because I got totally turned off from playing. (I'm not naming the program just in case someone from the program is reading this) Anyway, I'm now missing the violin a LOT.. i'm in the 10th grade just in case you were wondeirng.. anyway, I can't find any good insturments in my price range around here... I'm too discriminating of a player to go for a shop violin or a normal rental at this point (besides the fact that I'm full size, so i couldn't rent anyway). I've already had two horrible experiences with eBay, so I'm finished with that. Does anyone have any suggestions of what I should do? I can't travel too far, because my parents aren't going to take me anywhere. This is going to be my violin for life according to my parents, unless I get really into it again and can upgrade. So, what should I look for? An older Itaian by a lesser known maker?? German, Engish,French? I'd prefer an older intrument to a newer instrument... if it had a good chance of resale (in the case that I'd actually get to upgrade) that would be great... I'm looking in the 3-5 range. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks! ~Sari

  4. I have a quick question. What is a good estimate for the modern value of a Francois Salzard violin, with certification from Paris? I'm closing on a deal for one, and I need to make sure I'm not getting ripped off. The violin has two small damages; a tiny repaired crack in the scroll (not near peg holes) and a little wear on the right f-hole. I have pictures if you would like to see them. Thanks in advance for any help! ~Sari
